About us

Creating the best place for women and girls in sport and recreation, here in Victoria.

The Office for Women in Sport and Recreation (OWSR) is the first dedicated office designed to improve gender equality in sport and recreation in Australia.

We are part of the Victorian Government, and Change Our Game is our call to action.

Our goal is to increase the number of women and girls participating in sport and active recreation, from grassroots through to senior leadership roles.

We focus on increasing opportunities in participation, in leadership, and the visibility of women and girls across all areas of the sector. This includes in opportunities:

  • to play all sports
  • in the administration and governance of sport
  • as athletes
  • in coaching, officiating, media, and much more.

Our goals

Increase opportunities for women and girls to participate in community sport

Enable more women in sport leadership roles

Narrow the visibility gap for women in sport – including media

Change Our Game

Change Our Game is our call to action. It’s a call to action for ourselves, and to our community, to move us closer to a gender equal sport sector and more fair society.

We want everyone to join us in creating change towards gender equality in sport.

Each of us have a role to play. Are the decisions and choices you are making moving us closer to a gender equal sport and active recreation sector?

Join our community of change makers to ensure there is no better place for women and girls in sport and active recreation than right here in Victoria.

Don't forget to add to the conversation on social media using #ChangeOurGame.
