Professional Development Scholarships Program NOW OPEN

Women working in sport and recreation have the chance to build specialist skills to advance their careers in the sector through to the 2024-25 Change Our Game Professional Development Scholarships Program.

  •

The Program supports women to access professional development opportunities to develop and strengthen specialist skills necessary to their roles in the sector across various stages of their career - from those in the formative early years of their careers, returning from a career break such as parental leave, and emerging leaders, through to executives, and new or aspiring board members to community leaders in sport and active recreation.

  •

The program offers opportunities including grants of up to $10,000 to complete specialist skill development courses, through Learning and Executive streams, alongside a new dedicated Women with a Disability stream for women with a disability living in regional Victoria seeking to progress their career in the sector.

  •

The program also offers a new Community Leaders stream, supporting women volunteering or working in community sport and recreation to gain better access to professional development opportunities.

  •

The Next Generation Leaders stream offers career coaching for aspiring executives to map their career paths, develop the skills needed, and expanding their industry networks.

  •

Through the Governance stream, new or aspiring board directors in the sport and recreation sector can complete the Foundations of Directorship Course delivered by the Australian Institute of Company Directors. This stream also supports sporting organisations meet the Victorian Government’s Balance the Board requirement to have a minimum 40% women directors.

  •

Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, Sarah Styles, said “Through this program, OWSR continues to remove barriers to accessing professional development opportunities for women in sport, supporting expanded networks and future career success.”
