In 2022, the Change Our Game State of Play Survey measured attitudes of the Victorian community sport sector towards gender equality in sport and active recreation, capturing results from over 670 respondents including volunteers, staff, players, coaches and spectators.

The survey explored attitudes to gender in relation to topics including respectful behaviour in community sport, leadership and coaching opportunities in sport, elite sport, role models, and sports media. Overall, the survey showed that while there are some positive attitudes towards women and girls in sport, change is still required in terms of underlying beliefs and behaviours.

State of Play was delivered as part of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation's (OWSR) Research and Insights Initiative. OWSR has prepared a report of the survey’s key findings, to help advance the conversation on gender equality in sport.
