Successful Candidates for the Change Our Game Finance for Non-Financial Managers Pilot Program Announced

12 women eager to progress their careers in sports management are set to benefit from a new pilot program delivered in partnership with Melbourne Business School (MBS). The Finance for Non-Financial Managers Pilot Program is a three-day program that will teach the basics of accounting, budgeting, interpreting financial statements, risk assessment, and financial reporting specific to the sporting sector.

Sarah Styles, Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, said, “We want to ensure women in sport and active recreation have every opportunity to secure the leadership roles they are pursuing and to thrive in those roles.”

Strong financial management skills are critical for securing and succeeding in senior leadership roles, including CEO positions. This training is specifically designed to support and empower women progressing in all sport management career paths to develop or strengthen these essential skills.

One successful candidate, Stephanie Millar, is the Operations Manager at Calisthenics Victoria. Stephanie is hopeful the course will enhance her prospects of Board positions at sports organisations. “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to learn new skills, which will help push my career to the next level”, she said.
