Grants for local sports clubs to level the playing field

Applications are now open for the 2023-24 Change Our Game Community Activation Grants Program!

The program supports local clubs and organisations to promote women and girls participating in community sport and recreation. The grants can also be used to build capability, equity and leadership at a grassroots level.

The Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, Sarah Styles, said, “This is another step in the right direction for creating change and making Victoria more fair for all."

Over the past 7 years, the program has funded 461 grants across the state to the value of over $2.2 million.

Previously, Benalla Golf Club received a grant enabling 75 women and girls to participate in Fun on the Fairways, a girls in golf program aimed at increasing participation.

The Golf Club gained a 20% increase in competition rounds played by women. Attendees learnt basic golf skills, game play and course etiquette in a fun way.

Our grant enabled us to engage women in a new and fun way. It was a fantastic initiative and helped us build an engaged and active female network.
Benalla Golf Club Secretary, Jo McKean

This program is a great opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to support gender equitable access and use of community sports infrastructure.

To learn more about equitable access in sport, read about the Fair Access Policy Roadmap.

Applications for this program are closed.
